Sharpsville Defeated By Farrell 7-34

The Devils suffered their final loss of the season against the Farrell Steelers in the matchup for the PIAA District 10 Class A Championship Title. Some would think that Sharpsville was already at a disadvantage, since QB Frank Joseph was out with pneumonia, Marcus Llewellyn was still nursing a sprained ankle from the game against Mercer and Matt Totin had only a few days to prepare to lead the Devils into the biggest game of the year. Despite the odds, the Devils played a more successful game against Farrell than all other Class A teams were capable of doing throughout the season. Marcus Llewellyn scored the first and only touchdown for the Devils in the second quarter. The Devils defensive line did a great job of driving Farrell back into their own territory for most of the game. The Steelers made a strong comeback during the second half, resulting in a final score of Steelers 34, Devils 7 for the Championship.

Sharpsville Defeats Mercer 10-7

The Blue Devils played an outstanding second game for their win against the Mercer Mustangs for the District 10 semi-finals. Justin Dunlap scored late in the first quarter, receiving a 9-yard pass from Frank Joseph. Mercer responded with an 89 yard run by Kyle Mariacher for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Kicker Jon Wilson sealed the win for Sharpsville with a 25-yard field goal with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter yielding a final score of Sharpsville 10, Mercer 7.
